There are almost no functional/performance differences between the SwiftColor SCC-4000D and CX-G6400 models in terms of print speed, print quality, size, weight, warranty terms and parts cost. However, there is one noteworthy difference — the ink cartridges are not compatible.
The inks for the SCC-4000D will not work in the CX-G6400, and vice versa. This means if your customer ends up with a mix of these printers, they will need to stock both types of ink. Also, the printers require different printer drivers.
The SwiftColor maintenance cartridge works in both printer models, and so do the printheads. Almost all parts are compatible with both models. And any card that is compatible with the SCC-4000D should also be compatible with the CX-G6400 printer.
Yes. Kanematsu plans to offer supplies for the original SwiftColor SCC-4000D for many years to come, and parts too. Remember, most of the parts for the SCC-4000D are the same as the CX-G6400, so you and your customers can use your SCC-4000D for many more years. To be clear, Kanematsu has no plans to discontinue supplies and service for the SCC-4000D.
Kanematsu’s standard warranty is the same whether the printer is the original SCC-4000D or the newer CX-G6400. It’s 1-year. We also offer a 1-year warranty extension for $1,200 per printer, and you can buy multiple years of it. Ask your sales rep if you need details. But neither the Kanematsu standard warranty nor optional extended warranty includes on-site service.
Kanematsu does not offer on-site service directly from Kanematsu for either model of the printer. We rely on our resellers for on-site service. Please ask your reseller if they provide on-site service in your area.
